I have fished with Capt. Jose "Pepi" Alfonso several times over the past four years. We had chartered other boats in the area, but once we found Makaira Fishing Charters we never went back to anyone else. With Capt. Pepi, we have fished for just about everything, Wahoo, Dorado, Kingfish, Tarpon and Marlin. I have never been disappointed. Capt. Pepi works extremely hard to put you on fish and also to make your trip as enjoyable as possible. My friends and I are avid fishermen where we live, and I am the owner/operator of my own charter business, so we know fishing.  I promise you, Capt. Pepi's operation is top notch. Not only is he good at catching the fish you are looking for, but he is very personable. This makes you feel like you are fishing with a friend and not just out on a charter boat. I would highly recommend, and have recommended Capt. Jose "Pepi" Alfonso to anyone going to Puerto Rico for fishing.

I wanted to thank you again for an outstanding weekend. We all had such a great time with you and thought the entire event was top notch. We were all very bummed out leaving yesterday and to my surprise, all the guys would have been right back out there again for another full day on the water. I know it's a long way off but I'm very serious about being back down there next Sept. Please keep me in mind when you get word that entry fees are being accepted. If you would have us again, we will be there.

Also, one more thing. If you can burn me a copy of some of our "greatest hit's" that we listened to all weekend, it would be great. I would like to then make some copies and give it to the guys.

Thanks again Pepi. Speaking for all of us, we truly feel like we now have a friend in Puerto Rico.

Thank you for the awesome experience last week.  We all had an absolute blast and I cannot wait to come back.  My wife wants to visit her family in Puerto Rico on a yearly basis so I will definitely be booking with you again when we visit.  The organized chaos when you have two Mahi hooked up at once (which happened twice) will be etched in my memory forever and I cannot wait to do it again.  Listening to the scream of the drag when hooked up with a 40+ pound Wahoo was enough to get anyone excited.  The fish dinner we had on Wednesday night was a hit with everyone.  You run a first class operation and your first mate (Chu) did a great job of keeping the lines in the water and controlling the chaos on deck.

Captain Pepi,

I wanted to thank you guys for a great fishing trip. While most of our crew had never fished offshore before you took the time to explain what to do and how to do it. We all had a blast and dinner that night was excellent (Dorado and Tuna). Jeanine is still broken up about the one that got away and swears to return to get her revenge. Of all the Charters I have taken yours was by far the best. You delivered exactly as promised and the boat and gear was outstanding. I wish Makaira charters the best in the future and will certainly recommend to all that visit the Rincon area.

Hey Pepi and Chu!

Just wanted to let you guys know what a great time we had. You made our first deep-sea fishing trip a day to remember! We enjoyed seeing the dolphins and pilot whales, and the black-fin tuna will be dinner tonight. Fighting with the 450 Marlin for 4 1/2 hours took it's toll on all of us, but man, we got that sucker in finally, thanks to you guys. You run a first-class outfit, amigos!

Just dropping a line to tell you how much I enjoyed fishing with you last month. The early morning wahoo double was sure an exciting way to start our day -- and the rest did not disappoint either! We should have entered that darned tournament -- we would have won it hands down! I may be the marine biologist, but you are the fisher-man. We enjoyed our trip with you in December.  Dave had told me about his past trips and  how knowledgeable, efficient and courteous you and Chu are.  You made me feel very at ease on the boat despite the fact that I was a novice at charter fishing.  Seeing the island from the water gives you a completely different perspective.  We plan another trip in December of 07 with Captain Dan and his fiance and we plan to book another trip on Fuakata!  We appreciate your hospitality and the way you go above and beyond for your clients.

Thank you for an incredible couple of days in the waters of Rincon.  You run a first class operation and the  hospitality of the people of Rincon makes for a wonderful experience.  Please give our thanks to your friend that prepared the yellowfin tunas ( I can't remember the name of the restaurant) for us.  Those  yellowfin  on 20lb class were a blast.  Daniel can't wait to get back and the wives are already planning the next visit to do more browsing (shopping) at the art galleries around Rincon.  David and his family were great and made our stay at Villa Cofresi very relaxing and enjoyable.  Tell Chu your mate, that next time I will break his Puerto Rican record for the biggest Dorado.
